2017-2018 Laptop Distribution For 6th – 8th Grade Students

In late August, the district will be distributing devices to students entering grades 6-8 through our digital learning program. The student must be present in order to login to the laptop with their secure credentials, as well as take responsibility for the device.

Before receiving the laptop, students and parents must complete the following steps. All agreements and a protection plan selection must be submitted online via MySchoolBucks in order for the laptop to be distributed to the student. Print your receipt and bring to distribution.

  1. Carefully read the Digital Learner Handbook. (view)

  2. Review the Laptop Protection Plan options. (view)

  3. Login to MySchoolBucks.com to electronically process your Laptop Protection Plan and required acceptable use and laptop agreements. Students must bring the printed MySchoolBucks receipt with them to laptop distribution.

    • If you do not already have a MySchoolBucks.com account, please visit their website (http://www.myschoolbucks.com) and click “Sign Up Today” to create an account before completing the steps below.

  4. Click on the "School Store" menu item (upper right), Scroll to "Categories" then click on "Technology".

  5. Select view details on the Laptop Protection Plan icon.

  6. Select or Add a Student from the drop down menu.

  7. Select a Laptop Protection Plan from the drop down menu.

  8. Electronically acknowledge the "Students Acceptable and Responsible Use" and the "Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment" statements.

  9. Click “Add to Basket”.

  10. Click on the orange shopping cart (top right corner of screen) and then click "View/Checkout" button.

  11. Submit payment information and scroll to bottom of screen and click "Place Order".

  12. After checking out, you must print receipt  and bring it with you to laptop distribution.

Students should bring a suitable sling bag to the distribution in order to carry their laptop home.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Laptop Distribution

Q: We are away the week that my student is assigned to pick-up their laptop. What can we do?

A: You can come on the other date that we will be distributing laptops at your student’s school. Choose a time that is convenient. For example: If you student is assigned to pick-up on August 22 but you will be away that week, then come on August 28 anytime during the distribution timeframe.

Q: We are away for both dates. What can we do?

A: You can process the paperwork and payment online via MySchoolBucks. Print out the receipt and send it in with your child when school begins. We will try to get laptops distributed to students who did not pick up during the summer on the first day of school, but depending upon how many students do not pick up during the summer, it could impact whether your student will be able to get the laptop on the first day. For example: If 400 students do not pick up laptop during the summer distribution dates, it would impact the ability to distribute that number of laptops to all students on the first day of school.

Q: I am working during all of the distribution timeframes. Can my son/daughter pick up the laptop with their grandparent, an older sibling, or a neighbor?

A: Yes. Please make sure your child comes to the distribution with the printed receipt from MySchoolBucks where you processed all agreements and the protection plan selection.

Q: We cannot make the timeframe in which my student is assigned for distribution. Can we come earlier or later in the day?

A: Yes. You can select a timeframe for a different letter in the alphabet. We will have all the laptops onsite, therefore, you do not need to notify us of your timeframe change.

All rising 6th – 8th grade students will pick up their assigned laptop at their attending school location. REMEMBER: The student must be present in order to login to the laptop with their secure credentials, as well as take responsibility for the device.

To minimize long lines and to drastically reduce your wait time, preferred dates and times have been established for students to pick up the laptop based on school and position in the alphabet. There will be an evening distribution for students who are unable to pick up during the day. NOTE: Evening distributions can be lengthy; therefore, it is recommended that you come during the daytime.

If the preferred date/time is not convenient, students may come any time during the deployment, as long as it is during one of the two dates that the deployment team will be the student's attending school location distributing the laptops.
