Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Howell Middle School South School Counseling Department welcomes you! As you are well aware, middle school students face a multitude of issues - academic, social, emotional, and behavioral. As always, our goal is to help our students to address those issues, in order for them to reach their fullest potential. We work to achieve that goal through a variety of counseling services and interventions. We utilize a number of innovative programs here at MSS, designed to encourage and support our students.

Students of the Month
What is the Student of the Month Program?
The “Student of the Month” program at Middle School South recognizes students who are doing an all-around super job. Every month, the teams select students who exemplify some (or all!) of the following traits:
- Positive and cooperative attitudes
- Try to do their best
- Have shown significant improvement (academically or behaviorally)
- Have good attendance
- Are good role models
- Are polite and courteous
Photographs and “Personality Profiles” of Student of the Month recipients are posted on the bulletin board located next to the Cafeteria. Students of the Month are recognized at a breakfast attended by the building administrators and their school counselors. Each Student of the Month receives a certificate, a token gift, and a letter to bring home to their parents.
